Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies and similar browser-storage technologies CARLOG uses. We keep this list intentionally short: CARLOG does not run analytics or advertising trackers, so everything below exists to make the app itself work.
1. Necessary Cookies
CARLOG sets exactly one cookie: a session/authentication cookie (PHPSESSID), created when you sign in. It is strictly necessary — it's how the Service recognizes you as signed in from one request to the next, and it's what keeps your private vehicle data scoped to your account. It contains no personal information itself, only a reference to your server-side session, and it expires when your browser session ends or you sign out.
This cookie cannot be disabled without breaking the ability to sign in, since there is no cookie-free way to maintain a login session.
2. Local Storage (Preferences)
Separately from cookies, CARLOG uses your browser's localStorage — a similar but non-cookie storage technology that stays on your device and is never sent to our servers automatically — to remember a couple of small preferences between visits:
- Which vehicle you last had selected
- Your chosen interface language
These are purely functional and contain no tracking data. You can clear them at any time via your browser's site-data settings.
3. What We Don't Use
CARLOG does not use analytics cookies, advertising or marketing cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or any third-party tracking technology. If that ever changes, this page will be updated first to describe what was added and why, before it is turned on.
4. Third-Party Font Requests
The app's interface loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Loading a font causes your browser to make a direct request to Google's servers, which may see your IP address as part of that request. This is a resource request, not a tracking cookie set by CARLOG, but we mention it here for completeness — see our Privacy Policy for more.
5. Managing Cookies
Most browsers let you view, delete, or block cookies through their settings. Because CARLOG's only cookie is required to keep you signed in, blocking it will prevent you from staying logged in — public/demo content will still be viewable without it.
6. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce any new cookie or tracking technology in the future, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above to describe it before it goes live.
